LISOF #MyFashionCareer bursary competition Terms and conditions

  1. This Bursary competition is organised by LISOF (Pty) Ltd, registration number 1997/021048/07.
  2. The competition commences on 23rd April 2017 and ends on 16 July 2017.
  3. Entries to the bursary competition commence on 23 April 2017.
  4. Entry into the competition is by the completion of submitting work for specific briefs advertised in the Sunday Times as well as www.myfashioncareer.co.za as per the entry mechanism reflected on any marketing material, such as print advertisements or social media posts. In order to be eligible to enter the competition the following must apply:
    1. You are over the age of 16 at date of entry;
    2. If you are under 18 years you need parental consent;
    3. You have a valid South African National Senior Certificate or South African National Certificate (Vocational) NQF Level 4 to be eligible for the Diploma/Degree bursaries; if you are currently in Grade 12, please send us your latest academic report;
    4. You are in possession of your valid South African ID document or birth certificate;
    5. You are a South African citizen or have permanent residency in South Africa;
    6. Your complete, accurate and up to date name and contact details are on record with LISOF;
    7. Certified proof of identification will be requested as verification of the entrant’s legal status;
    8. You are not a director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant to LISOF or any marketing service provider in respect of the bursary competition or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the promoter/s or suppliers of goods or services in connection with this competition, or the spouse, life partner, parent, child, brother, sister, business partner or associate of such a person;
    9. It is not unlawful to award the prize to you in terms of any legislation or public regulation and LISOF reserves the right to require proof that it will not be unlawful to supply a prize (for example to request the winner of a bursary to provide his / her highest qualification documents and original certified copy of ID document before they can hand over the prize).

 

  1. You must meet the course qualifying criteria (See Criteria at end of terms and conditions)
  2. Your entry into the competition means that you agree and understand that you will stand a chance only to win a prize and that there is no guarantee that you will be receiving any prize.
  3. You will only stand a chance to win the bursary if you meet the admission criteria for the respective diploma or degree.
  4. There will be one winner for each of the following prizes, with a total prize value in excess of R450 000.00:
    • Bachelor of Arts Degree AND Diploma in Fashion: Design for a 1 year full-time
    • Bachelor of Arts Degree AND Diploma in Fashion: Media for a 1 year full-time
    • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fashion: Buying for a 1 year full-time
    • Bachelor of Commerce in Fashion for a 1 year full-time
  5. The winner for each respective bursary prize will be selected via public vote with a dedicated SMS line advertised and marketed in The Sunday Times as well as www.myfashioncareer.co.za
  6. All full-time bursary winners will be required to undertake an assessment test for the respective bursary prize. The contestant’s prize will also be withdrawn if he/she fails to meet the requirements of the LISOF assessment tests.
  7. Subject to applicable law, you also indemnify us against any damages that anyone may suffer as a result of the prize/s or this competition, including consequential and economic loss.
  8. Competition Mechanics:
    1. Example: BRIEF 1: 23 April 2017 Call to entry and Brief 1 will be published in the Sunday Times. This first brief is allocated for Design, therefore entrants will need to submit their designs within 5 days. The top 6 designs that followed the brief and requirements will then be selected by LISOF and printed in the Sunday Times, 7th May 2017 edition.
    2. The winner/s of the prize/s will be notified by LISOF on the contact details submitted. Once the winner/s has/have been contacted, their details will be published on the LISOF website, social media platforms and in marketing and communications material which will be shared with the press. If LISOF cannot reach the winner through any contact details after 2 working days after submission deadline, a new winner will be selected immediately under the same conditions. If the winner/s contact number/s is/are repeatedly engaged, just ring/s or go/es to voicemail, LISOF, may at its own discretion, select a new winner.
  9. By submitting an entry the contestant agrees to the publication of his/her name on the LISOF website, social media platforms and marketing communications and materials.
  10. The prize/s is/are not transferable and may not be deferred, changed or exchanged for cash or any other course offered by LISOF.
  11. LISOF may also decide to publish the winner’s image or require that the winner participate. The winner/s may also be required to have their image published and/or to participate in marketing activities, but the winner may refuse both of these from happening.
  12. LISOF reserves the right to vary, postpone, suspend, or cancel the competition and any prizes (which have not yet been awarded), or any aspect thereof, without notice at any time, for any reason which LISOF, at its sole discretion, deems necessary.
  13. The decision of the competition judges as to the Top 6 or any dispute is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into thereafter.
  14. If the winner/s fail/s to comply with any of these rules or the terms of acceptance of the prizes, or if they refuse to sign the LISOF winner/s declaration or the LISOF winner/s prize acceptance form, this will be construed as a rejection of the prize and then, without prejudice to any other remedy which LISOF and its associates may have, the winner will be automatically disqualified and will forfeit the prize.
  15. Full-time Diploma or Degree bursary prizes include only the 1st year full tuition fees due to LISOF for each course and do not include:
    • Accommodation and travel;
    • All textbooks, kits, levies and student card and consumables required for the course duration.
  16. The bursary will be terminated should the prize winner (student) not achieve an average mark of at least 75%, fail to meet the minimum 90% attendance or breach any of the LISOF Terms and Conditions, in any year of study.
    *R450 000.00. Each bursary prize value has an annual increase rate of 8%-10% and that total prize value will be included in winner acceptance letters & contracts.
    #MyFashionCareer Bursary Competition is not open to current LISOF students.
  17. The contestants’ entry will be withdrawn if any qualification documentation is unlawful, invalid or do not meet the entry / qualifying criteria as set out below.
    • Qualifying Criteria
      1. Diploma in Fashion: · Must pass Grade 12 with University endorsement. · Subject requirements: 40% or more for at least four subjects, excluding Life Orientation.
      2. Bachelor of Arts in Fashion: · Must pass Grade 12 with University endorsement. · Subject requirements: 50% or more for at least four subjects, excluding Life Orientation and at least 50% or more for Mathematics and at least 70% or more for Mathematics Literacy.
      3. Bachelor of Commerce in Fashion: · Must pass Grade 12 with University endorsement. · Subject requirements: 50% or more for at least four subjects, excluding Life Orientation and at least 50% or more for Mathematics or 80% or more for Mathematics Literacy. Minimum 50% in the LISOF Numeracy test
